From Dauphin (MP 121.7), end-on junction with the Togo sub., where there is a passenger station, with platform and two-storey brick depot to the north and extra track (a siding?) to the south, the single track, OCS, line heads east-southeast, in Yard Limits, past a grade crossing, a spur trailing in from the north, extra track to the north, a grade crossing, silos with three extra tracks to the south, a street alongside to the north, a grade crossing with Whitmore Avenue, two extra tracks to the north, and grain silos and extra track to the north at MP 120, to the end of Yard Limits at Miles (MP 119.3), where it turns southeast, two extra tracks to the northeast, a dirt road grade crossing, CN Woodbey, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, MP 116, two dirt road grade crossings, MP 115, two dirt track grade crossings, a dirt road grade crossing, two dirt track grade crossings, hay fields, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 110, and the 6,310 ft. northeast side siding at Ochre River (MP 109.3), with a dirt track grade crossing within the siding.

The line turns south-southeast, past a grade crossing in town, the 6,310 ft. northeast side siding at Cutts (MP 82.9), with MP 83 and a dirt road grade crossing within the siding, three dirt road grade crossings, MP 80, two dirt road grade crossings, a turn southeast, a dirt road alongside to the northeast, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 78, a bridge over a ditch, a dirt track grade crossing, MP 77, two dirt track grade crossings, a dirt road grade crossing at a detector at MP 74.5, hayfields among the trees, MP 74, the 6,360 ft. northeast side siding at Glencairn (MP 72.5), with a dirt road grade crossings and a bridge over a stream within the siding, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 71, a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, a grade crossing in town, 1500 ft. elevation (a wide plateau) Riding Mountain (National Park) visible to the west, the 2,930 ft. northeast side siding at Glenella (MP 63.8), a dirt road grade crossing, MP 63, a dirt road grade crossing, and two dirt track grade crossings.

The line turns south at Colby (MP 54.6), past the 6,310 ft. siding at Plumas (MP 50.3), a turn southeast and then south again, two dirt road grade crossings, a grade crossing, a flat crossing with the CP Minnedosa sub. (MP 37.4), a connection with the CP Minnedosa sub. (MP 36.6), the 3,250 ft. west side siding at Gladstone (MP 36.5), with a spur to west side grain elevators and four grade crossings in town, the 6,250 ft. west side siding at Golden Stream (MP 31.2), three or four dirt road grade crossings, and a grade crossing.

The line turns east-southeast, past the 6,200 ft. siding at Beaver (MP 18.6), a detector at MP 15.5, two or three dirt road grade crossings, the 2,870 ft. siding at Rignold (MP 9.9), three dirt road grade crossings, a bridge over irrigation, a dirt road grade crossing, and a bridge over a stream, among wheat fields on both sides, the start of CTC at Delta Junction (MP 0.6), an angled flat crossing with the CP transcontinental main line (MP 0.4), a grade crossing, Kearns (MP 0.0/55.7), where two tracks begin and the line trails into the north side of the River sub., coming from the west, a road bridge overhead, an additional track on the north side, beyond the double track, and the passenger station at Portage La Prairie (MP 55.3), with a brick depot and platform on the south side, and a platform between the tracks.
