At HS Junction (MP 238.5), where the speed limit is 40 mph, a Santa Fe line north from Fort Worth and Oklahoma City from the south joins the Transcon from the west at a wye, and the single track, CTC, 70 mph (passenger)-55 mph (freight) line continues east, past the 3,550 ft. siding at Wellington (MP 238.0), where there is a yard and shuttle-enabled grain elevators, SK Junction (MP 237.0), where a Santa Fe branch once continued east to Winfield and the main line turns north, on a stretch of double track, ABS, turning northeast (65 mph on the curves from MP 233.5 to MP 233.1) to Cicero (MP 230.6), where single track, CTC, resumes, past curves with a 65 mph speed limit (MP 228.8-MP 228.4), and north-northeast past the 7,502 ft. siding at Belle Plaine (MP 226.5), where a former MP line and a Midland Valley line both once crossed on the flat.
There is a detector at MP 223.7, West Junction (MP 222.0), where 2MT, CTC, start, and the lines separate, curves with a 65 mph speed limit (MP 221.4 to MP 220.0), a bridge over the former Santa Fe line from Winfield northwest to Wichita, and a curve with a 65 mph speed limit (MP 217.4-MP 217.3) on the south track, and curves with a 30 mph speed limit (MP 221.2-MP 219.4), and the 6,953 ft. siding at Mulvane (MP 220.5), where that line from Winfield trails in from the southeast and departs to the north, on the north track, and East Junction (MP 215.8), where the tracks come back together, single track, CTC, resumes and the speed limit is 55 mph on the switch.
The line turns northeast, past the 6,794 ft. siding at Rose Hill (MP 211.6), curves with speed limit 55 mph (MP 210.4-MP 209.5), the 6,784 ft. siding at Salter (MP 205.2), where the speed limit is 50 mph on the curve, curves with speed limit 45 mph (MP 204.7-MP 204.3), curves with speed limit 55 mph (MP 203.2-MP 202.4), a detector at MP 202.8 within that last speed restriction, West Augusta (MP 201.8), where double track, ABS, start, curves with speed limit 50 mph (MP 200.7-MP 185.5), with a mileage equation MP 200=MP 185.8, where another Santa Fe line north from Winfield, Oklahoma City and Fort Worth trails in from the south, a BN (former Frisco Wichita line) flat crossing in Augusta (MP 185.3), where the speed limit is 50 mph, and the 9,512 ft. siding on the north side and 6,646 ft. siding on the south side at East Augusta (MP 183.3), where the speed limit is 70 mph again.
The line turns north-northeast, past curves with speed limit 65 mph (MP 183.0-MP 182.8), detectors at MP 181.4, Vanora, a curve northeast with speed limit 60 mph (MP 179.7-MP 179.6), a curve east-northeast, with speed limit 60 mph (MP 175.5-MP 175.3), OD Junction (MP 174.3), where the DT, ABS, become 2MT, CTC and the speed limit is 40 mph on the south track and 30 mph on the north track, a curve north-northeast with 45 mph speed limit (MP 173.7-MP 173.4), a flat crossing with a former MP line, El Dorado (MP 172.8), where a Santa Fe branch once headed north, a curve north, with speed limit 60 mph (MP 172.5-MP 172.3), where the original line once continued ahead through an area now flooded behind a dam, and East El Dorado (MP 171A.2), where the CTC line singles, and the line turns north-northeast and then northeast as it makes the diversion.
There is a 7,010 ft. siding at Chelsea (MP 165.6), still on the diversion, and the line turns north-northeast onto the original alignment, past a detector at MP 162.6, the 14,338 ft. siding at Aikman (MP 158.4), and the 14,892 ft. siding at Cassoday (MP 154.2), and then enters a curvy stretch with a curve with speed limit 65 mph (MP 152.8-MP 152.4), a curve with speed limit 65 mph (MP 150.4-MP 149.9), a curve with speed limit 55 mph (MP 149.6-MP 149.2), a curve with speed limit 60 mph (MP 148.9-MP 147.5), and curves with speed limit 55 mph (MP 147.2-MP 142.3), including the 7,943 ft. siding at Matfield Green (MP 144.4) as the line turns north and then north-northeast again past a detector at MP 138.1, the 10,017 ft. siding at Bazar (MP 136.1), where a line to Strong City once headed north, the 8,594 ft. siding at Gladstone (MP 130.3), and a turn northeast to the 12,080 ft. siding, junction, and crossovers at Ellinor (MP 124.7), where the freight and passenger transcons come together, east of which there are Three Main Tracks, the southernmost pair being Double Track, Automatic Block Signals, and the northernmost (Track 3) being CTC, heading east-northeast, with speed limit 79-55.
