Harriman Junction to Citico Junction

From the crossover at Harriman Junction (MP 258.2, 25 mph on the crossover), where there are cantilever signal bridges on both tracks, north of the crossover, north of the junction where the single track line to Knoxville turns away east (20 mph on the turnout), the double track main line to Chattanooga continues south, with the Emory River alongside to the west, Automatic Block Signals, Traffic Control, maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for freight trains, but with local restriction to 40 mph on curves between MP 257.8 and MP 258.7, past a multi-span deck girder bridge over the Emory River, a restriction to 35 mph on curves between MP 258.7 and MP 259.5, turning southwest past a restriction to 45 mph on curves between MP 258.5 and MP 260.6, an eight-track yard on the west side, a grade crossing a brick depot on the east side at Emory Gap (MP 260.5), where the south leg of the wye (which crosses a long trestle with a single through-truss span over the Emory River, with US 27 alongside to the east) with the Knoxville line (former Tennessee Central) trails in on the south side, across from the yard, the US 27 alongside to the east, a restriction to 45-40 on curves between MP 260.6 and MP 262.9, the resumption of single track at EG Tower (MP 261.4, 40 mph on the turnout), a detector at "Emory Gap" (MP 261.9), a turn west and then southwest again, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 262.9 and MP 263.4, a bridge over the (old TC) line to Crab Orchard, and a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 264.6 and MP 265.0.

An erstwhile connector from the (former TC) Crab Orchard line trails in on the north side at the start of a 7,393 ft. east side siding (20 mph on the siding) from North Rockwood (MP 267.7, 20 mph on the turnout) to South Rockwood (MP 269.1, 20 mph on the turnout),  and the line turns south-southwest with a restriction to 45 mph on curves between MP 269.2 and MP 270.3, past a road bridge overhead in a cutting, a detector at "Rockwood" (MP 270.8), a restriction to 50 mph on curves between MP 273.7 and MP 274.0, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 274.0 and MP 274.8, a 10,082 ft. east side siding (20 mph on the siding) from North Roddy (MP 275.4, 20 mph on the turnout) to South Roddy (MP 277.3, 20 mph on the turnout), a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 277.9 and MP 278.6, and a restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 278.6 and MP 278.9.

There is a detector at "Spring City" (MP 279.2), Lorraine, a 9,361 ft. east side siding (20 mph on the siding) from North Spring City (MP 283.2, 20 mph on the turnout), past the old depot and a stuffed-and-mounted caboose on the west side at Spring City, to South Spring City (MP 285.1, 20 mph on the turnout), where a spur to the Watts Bar Power Plants on the Tennessee River heads southeast, Pennine, a restriction to 50 mph on curves between MP 286.9 and MP 288.0, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 288.0 and MP 289.8, a detector at Clear Creek (MP 289.8), a restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 290.5 and MP 290.7, a restriction to 45 mph on curves between MP 290.7 and MP 290.9, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 291.6 and MP 292.2, a 14,186 ft. west side siding (40 mph on the siding) from North Evansville (MP 292.2, 40 mph on the turnout), past Evansville, to South Evansville (MP 295.0, 40 mph on the turnout).

A restriction to 50 mph over at least four street crossings in Dayton, MP 297.5 to MP 300.6 encompasses a 7,721 ft. west side siding (20 mph on the siding) from North Dayton (MP 299.2, 20 mph on the turnout) to South Dayton (MP 300.7, 20 mph on the turnout), and the line continues south-southwest, down the Tennessee River Valley, past a detector at "Dayton" (MP 302.7), a restriction to 45-40 on curves between MP 304.2 and MP 304.5 as the line turns west, a restriction to 45 mph on curves between MP 304.5 and MP 304.9, as the line turns southwest past Graysville, where there is a siding on the west side that may be continuous to Sale Creek, and then just west of due south past Coulterville, a five-span deck girder bridge over Sale Creek, and a 10,550 ft. west side siding (20 mph on the siding) from North Sale Creek (MP 309.7, 20 mph on the turnout), past a grade crossing in the siding, Sale Creek a restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 310.9 and MP 311.4, and a grade crossing and extra track near the south end, to South Sale Creek (MP 311.8, 20 mph on the turnout).

There is a detector at "Bakewell" (MP 312.6), a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, Bakewell, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 313.5 and MP 313.9, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 314.5 and MP 314.8, Rathburn, a restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 316.1 and MP 318.8, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, the set of curves, more Intermediate Signals, a restriction to 40 mph over street crossings in Soddy Daisy, between MP 319.1 and MP 323.3, a detector at "Daisy" (MP 319.6), the start of Two Main Tracks at Daisy (MP 321.0, 40 mph on the turnout), where a spur east to the Sequoyah Power Plant on the Tennessee River departs as the line turns south-southwest, a restriction to 40 mph on Track 2 between MP 321.0 and MP 325.0, a restriction to 40 mph on Track 1 for curves between MP 322.5 and MP 322.7, a restriction to 35 mph on Track 1 for curves between MP 322.7 and MP 323.7 and a restriction to 30 mph on Track 2 for curves between MP 322.7 and MP 323.7, Montlake, where the erstwhile Crossman and Montlake short line once trailed in on the west side, and a restriction to 45 mph on Track 1 for curves between MP 323.7 and MP 325.0.

Single track resumes at Cave Springs (MP 325.0, 40 mph on the turnout), past a restriction to 45 mph on curves between MP 325.0 and MP 325.4, a restriction to 40 mph on curves between MP 325.4 and MP 325.6, a restriction to 40-35 on curves between MP 325.6 and MP 326.0, as the line turns curvily south, a restriction to 40 mph on curves between MP 326.0 and MP 326.6, a detector at MP 327.1, a restriction to 35 mph on curves between MP 327.4 and MP 328.2, a restriction to 45-40 on curves between MP 328.2 and MP 328.4, a grade crossing on a curve, a road bridge overhead, the start of 2MT at Hixson (MP 328.7, 40 mph on the turnout), the wye junction with a track to freight terminals on the river, on the west side, a restriction to 35 mph over a deck girder span over a road on the north bank of the river, the towering through-truss lift span and multi-span (at least six) deck girder, double track, Tennessee River Bridge from MP 331.1 to MP 331.2, a south-facing signal bridge just south of the river bridge, a continuing restriction to 35 mph on the main track from MP 331.2 to MP 337.0, crossovers at Tenbridge (MP 331.3, 40 mph on the turnout), Boyce (MP 331.7), a 15 mph restriction on the wye on the east side, south of Boyce (MP 331.9), and Citico Junction (MP 332.4), where the main line to Ooltewah (and Atlanta) heads east and the line to Chattanooga and DeButts Yard continues south-southwest.
