Marshalltown to Cedar Rapids

From the junction with the former Minneapolis & St. Louis trailing in on the north side at Marshalltown (MP 151.3), where there is a 3.2 mile spur to the Alliant Energy Sutherland Station on the north side, a turn southeast, the end of Yard Limits at MP 148.5, and the crossovers and junction (30 mph on the turnouts) with the former Minneapolis & St. Louis line south to Albia at East Marshalltown (MP 148.2), where CTC ends, the double track, current-of-traffic, Automatic Train Stop line  heads curvily east-southeast, speed limit  70 mph for intermodal trains and 60 mph for other freights (except 45 mph for unit coal trains), past Quarry, Le Grand (MP 142.8), and Montour, turning just south of due east past a bridge over the Iowa River, crossovers at MP 135.6, and detectors at MP 135.5, and east-southeast past the 7,300 ft. eastward and 7,200 ft. westward sidings at Tama (MP 132.9), where there are also crossovers  (30 mph on the turnouts), and a spur trailing in on the north side, and was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile Milwaukee Road line.

The line passes Long Point, crossovers at MP 127.8, Chelsea (MP 123.0), crossovers at MP 117.4, detectors at MP 117.1, a 45/40 mph speed restriction between MP 116.8 and MP 113.7, where there was once a flat crossing with a north-south line, Belle Plaine (MP 116.4), where a short stub of that line trails in on the south side and the line turns just north of due east, Luzerne, turning just south of due east past Blairstown (MP 106.3), southeast and then just north of due east past Watkins, crossovers at MP 102.0, detectors at MP 97.5, Norway (MP 97.4), crossovers (30 mph on the turnouts) at Fairfax (MP 89.8), where CTC starts and the line turns east, past the double track junction with the connector on the south side to the CRANDIC Yard, 1.9 miles away,  and then just north of due east again, past the start of Yard Limits at MP 88.5, Intermediate Signals at MP 88.1, a bridge over a stream, th 12 tracks of Beverly Yard on the north side of the line, with three tracks to the south of the line and locomotive facilities towards the west end, a road bridge overhead, and crossovers at Beverly (MP 86.3), where an 8.6 mile spur heads northeast to Cedar Rapids, rejoining the main line at Otis.
