Cedar Rapids to Clinton

From the crossovers at Beverly (MP 86.3), where an 8.6 mile spur heads northeast to Cedar Rapids, rejoining the main line at Otis, the main line continues just north of due east, Yard Limits, Two Main Tracks, CTC, Automatic Train Control, speed limit 70 mph for intermodal trains and 60 mph for other freights (except 45 mph for unit coal trains), past angled dual road bridges overhead (US 30), the east end of the yard, a bridge over a stream, a former flat crossing with an erstwhile Milwaukee Road line, a bridge carrying the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City line overhead, a road bridge overhead, dual road bridges overhead (I-380), the former location of a bridge carrying an erstwhile Rock Island line overhead, a grade crossing, spurs trailing in to the north, a road bridge overhead, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, the single track (30 mph on the turnouts) deck girder Cedar River Bridge (MP 78.6), where Double Track CTC (formerly current-of-traffic, left hand running) resumes on the east side, a road to the north, and Otis (MP 77.8), where the Cedar Rapids spur trails back in on the north side and the line turns northeast.

There are crossovers at MP 77.0, the end of Yard Limits at MP 76.4, a road alongside to the north, detectors at MP 76.2, a 60 mph speed restriction on Track 1 and a 40 mph speed restriction on Track 2 between MP 73.6 and MP 71.4 as the line makes a sharp turn to the south-southeast, following a bend in the Cedar River (on whose north bank the line is running), dual road bridges overhead (US 151), a hard turn east-northeast, away from the river, past Bertram (MP 73.9), where an erstwhile Cedar Rapids & Iowa City branch once crossed, a turn southeast, south-southeast, and then east, past Intermediate Signals at Mount Vernon (MP 65.6), a road bridge overhead, two grade crossings, a dirt track grade crossing, and Lisbon (MP 64.1), where there is extra track to the north.

The line makes a turn east-southeast past Intermediate Signals at MP 63.5, two dirt road grade crossings, signals and crossovers at Koch (MP 61.1), a dirt track grade crossing, two dirt road grade crossings, Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, detectors at MP 57.2, and extra track to the north at Mechanicsville (MP 56.9), where there were once crossovers, Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, and Intermediate Signals at MP 54.5, a turn curvily east past a dirt road grade crossing, three grade crossings  and  a spur to the north, old Stanwood (MP 51.6), where a branch once headed south, signals and crossovers at Stanwood (MP 50.8), Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at Clarence (MP 46.4), a grade crossing, silos to the south, a grade crossing, spurs and silos to the north, a dirt road grade crossing, and a dirt track grade crossing.

There are Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a turn east-southeast past a bridge over a stream, signals and crossovers at West Lowden (MP 41.2), a road alongside to the north, detectors at MP 40.1, two grade crossings and the 7,200 ft. westward (south-side) siding at Lowden (MP 39.7), Intermediate Signals, Intermediate Signals at MP 36.1, a dirt track grade crossing, silos to the south and former crossovers at Wheatland (MP 34.9), where an erstwhile Milwaukee Road line once crossed on the flat, two grade crossings in town, silos and a spur to the north, a road bridge overhead, a two-span through truss bridge overthe Wapsipinicon River (MP 33.4).

The line turns east past signals and crossovers at West Calamus (MP 32.0), two grade crossings and Intermediate Signals at Calamus (MP 30.5), a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at Dumoor (MP 27.5), a dirt road grade crossing, former crossovers, now Intermediate Signals at old Grand Mound (MP 25.0), two grade crossings, detectors at MP 24.9, a road alongside to the north, signals and crossovers at Grand Mound (MP 23.5), a bridge over a road, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals where another erstwhile Milwaukee Road line once crossed on the flat at DeWitt (MP 19.2), and a park on the north side, and the line continues east,  and then just south of due east past two grade crossings, spurs to silos on the south side, a grade crossing and Intermediate Signals at Malone, Intermediate Signals at MP 16.3, a dirt road grade crossing, dual angled road bridges overhead (US 30), Intermediate Signals, a grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, and signals and crossovers at Brophy (MP 13.1).

There is a grade crossing, Low Moor (MP 9.6), detectors at MP 9.1, a grade crossing, a road alongside to the south, a dirt track grade crossing, the start of Yard Limits at MP 8.0, a 60 mph speed restriction on Track 1 and a 40 mph speed restriction on Track 2 between MP 7.0 and MP 3.0, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, and crossovers at MP 6.5, turning east-northeast past two extra tracks to the south, a spur curving away to the south, extra track to the south, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 5.31, a grade crossing, four spurs from industry on the south side, a signals bridge overhead, a road bridge overhead, crossovers (30 mph on the turnouts) at Camanche (MP 3.4), where CTC once started (but now continues), a signal bridge overhead, a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 3.0 to MP 0.0, a line curving away on the south side, a spur curving in on the north side, a road bridge overhead, West Clinton, where a connector from a former Rock Island line (later a joint BNSF/CP line) along the Mississippi River's west bank trails in from the south, a track to the north with two ADM critters, and an ADM plant wtih a six track yard on the southeast side of the line, to Clinton (MP 2.1), where the line heads northeast.
