Baltimore to Perryville

There are crossovers at Charles (MP 95.9), erstwhile wye junction with the former Baltimore & Pennsylvania line north, where speed limits drop to 15 mph, two road bridges overhead, Penn Station, Baltimore (MP 95.7), which has three island and one south-side platforms, with umbrella sheds, serving six tracks and a south-facing stub, a concourse above, connected by stairways and elevators, and a 1930s depot building on the south side of the line, crossovers at Paul (MP 95.2), where speed limits rise to 45-30 and a WM line once headed south at a wye, on a course now occupied by an expressway, the Union Tunnels, two bridges over streets below, two bridges over streets below at intersections, and six more bridges over streets below, a jog southeast to the crossovers at Biddle (MP 94.3) as the speed limit becomes 60-25, an extra track on the south side adds to the three already existing tracks, and the line turns east, a road bridge overhead, southeast past a bridge over a street, a bridge over a divided highway, two bridges over streets, Canton (MP 92.9), where a line once headed south to Clinton Street Yard, a spur on the south side from Orangeville, under the former B&O line south to Canton (bridging overhead), a road bridge overhead, a spur on the north side, a bridge over a divided street, and a large road bridge overhead, east northeast at the interlocking at Bay (MP 91.9), where a track from Canton Street yard trails in from the southwest, there are crossovers between the easternmost two tracks, and the west end of Bay View Yard, and the speed limits become 110/100-25, past Bay View Yard on the south side of the line, crossovers at Point (MP 90.1), where the line turns northeast, bridges over two rivers, a road bridge overhead, crossovers at River (MP 89.3), dual road bridges overhead, the east end of the yard, where freight speeds rise to 50 mph, a road bridge overhead, dual road bridges overhead, a bridge over a stream, Chesaco Park, a bridge over another river, Stemmer's Run, where the line turns east-northeast, Middle River, where it turns northeast again, a bridge over a road below, Bengies (MP 85.0), where passenger speeds rise to 125/110, a road bridge overhead, a passenger station at Martin (MP 84.0), a road bridge overhead, Chase, where a power plant spur trails in on the south side, a road bridge overhead, crossovers at Gunpow (MP 79.3), after the two easternmost tracks trail into Track 2 (the four tracks reduce to two), and a long deck girder bridge over the Gunpowder River.

The line runs northeast along Chesapeake Bay (although not along the shoreline), past crossovers at Magnolia (MP 76.9), where there is a wye on the south side with a line southeast to Arsenel, and sidings along both sides of the line begin (Edgewood Siding on the west and Magnolia Siding on the east), a road bridge overhead, and crossovers at Wood (MP 75.3), where those sidings end, a passenger station with two side platforms at Edgewood (MP 75.1), Otter Point, a movable bridge across the Bush River, an interlocking for that bridge at Bush (MP 71.6), where a third track begins again, but on the opposite side of the formation from the previous third track, with speed limit 80/50 on the middle track and 125/110-50 on the outer two, Perryman, a wye to lines into Aberdeen Proving ground on the southeast side, a road bridge overhead, spurs to industry on the west side, curving away west, dual road bridges overhead, a road bridge overhead, a passenger station with two side platforms at Aberdeen (MP 65.5), where the highest passenger speeds drop to 110 mph as far as MP 64, where they revert to 125 mph, a road bridge overhead, a road alongside to the west, a road bridge overhead, two bridges over streams, a road bridge overhead, a crossover between the western two tracks at Oak (MP 62.9), a road bridge overhead, and the interlocking at Grace (Havre de Grace, MP 60.7), where the number of tracks reduces to two and the speed limits become 90-30, two bridges over streets below before crossing the Susquehanna River Movable Bridge (MP 60.2) to the crossovers and junction at Perry (MP 59.5), where the former Conrail Port Road Branch turns away to the north.
