Fort Wayne to New Castle

From Runnion Avenue (MP 186.5), where there is a wye (20 mph on the west leg, 10mph on the east leg) on the south side of the former Nickel Plate main line from Chicago to Buffalo, a flat crossing, within the wye, and the stubs of two former New York Central lines trailing in from the north at MP 372.7, all connecting with a former Nickel Plate line, the latter heads south, single track, Automatic Block Signals, Traffic Control, maximum speed 25 mph, past a former flat crossing (with a Penn Central line) and junction with the northeast quadrant connector to the Conrail (former PRR) Fort Wayne Line at Park (MP 186.0), MP 185.9, where the maximum speed rises to 30 mph through Fort Wayne, and a flat crossing and southeast quadrant connector with the Conrail  (former PRR) Fort Wayne Line at Junction (MP 185.8).

There is a spur for General Electric at MP 185.6, where the line turns south-southwest and then south again past a flat crossing and southeast quadrant junction (25 mph on crossing and junction) with the NS (former Wabash) Huntington District line at Hugo (MP 184.1), a street to the east, a spur for the Butler Paper Company at MP 183.8, a spur for the Waynedale Paper Company at MP 182.3, a spur for the Z-Brick Company at MP 181.3, a spur for the I&M Electric Company at MP 180.9, where the maximum speed falls to 25 mph, MP 180, where the maximum speed rises to 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for other freight trains, a yard at Ferguson (MP 179.7), Winter Road (MP 179.0), the Yoder Passing Track (MP 176.1 to MP 175.8), a spur for Ossian Energy Control at MP 172.6, and a spur for Johnson Energy Control (MP 171.6).

There is an 8,741 ft. siding (25 mph on the siding) at Kingsland (from MP 171 to MP 169.5), with a grade corsisng at MP 170, within the siding, and was once a flat crossing with the erstwhile Erie main line at MP 169.0, and the line continues south, past a grade crossing and detector at "Kingsland" (MP 168.1), a spur at Sohigro (MP 164.6), a spur for the Eric Stone Company at MP 164.5, a turn south-southwest where the former Clover Leaf trails in on the east side, a 30 mph speed restriction through Bluffton, from MP 163.49 to MP 161.84, a spur for Aglan Grain at MP 161.7, Bluffton (MP 158.6), where the former Clover Leaf heads away on the west side, and there is extra track to grain silos on the east side, a dirt road grade crossing at MP 158, a detector at MP 157.2, a west-sidespur for Poneto Grain at MP 156.6, east-side silos at Keystone, a spur at the Co-Op Track (MP 149.7), a spur for Certain Teed at MP 148.9, Montpelier (MP 148.7), and a spur for Tin Plate at MP 148.1, the 9,925 ft. siding (25 mph on the siding) at "Montpelier" (from MP 147, where there is a grade crossing, to MP 145, where there is another grade crossing), a grade crossing, a grade crossing at MP 144, an angled grade crossing at MP 143, a spur for Chatfield Paper at MP 140.8, and a spur for Beerco at MP 140.8.

The line turns south again, with a 30 mph speed restriction for the curve between MP 140.8 and MP 140.2 at Hartford City, where there is a grade crossing on the curve, Hartford Packing to the east, and a bridge over a former PRR line, past a grade crossing and detector at "Hartford City" (MP 136.7), a dirt road grade crossing at MP 136, a 40 mph speed restriction through Eaton, from MP 133.6 to MP 132.6, a grade crossing at MP 133, a west-side spur for grain elevators at Shidelers Loading Track (MP 130.3), a road bridge overhead, the 8,520 ft. siding (25 mph on the siding) at Royerton (MP 127.7), a 30 mph speed restriction through Muncie, from MP 125.6 to MP 123.2, a turn south-southwest, a 10 mph speed restriction at the Grandville grade crossing (MP 124.9), a 10 mph speed restriction at the McGaillard Road grade crossing (MP 124.8), a spur at Cold Storage Track (MP 124.0), and a spur at Dayton Steel (MP 123.8).

There is a turn southeast where the erstwhile C&O of Indiana once trailed in from the north-northwest, with a 25 mph speed restriction on the curves between  MP 123.2 and MP 121.9, past a bridge over the Whitewater River, a multi-span deck girder bridge over the Whitewater River, and a deck girder bridge over the Whitewater River, a wye on the east side at Muncie East Yard (MP 122.0), with a grade crossing in the wye, where there is a junction with the NS Frankfort District coming in from the northeast, the yard  on that line, and a turn just south of due west on the west leg of that wye, where the erstwhile C&O of Indiana once continued as the former Nickel Plate comes along the north side of the double track former Big Four (now CSX Indianapolis Line) south, a grade crossing at Lincoln Street, and a former flat crossing with a PRR line, with a 30 mph speed restriction through Muncie, from MP 121.8 to MP 118.67, for many more grade crossings.

There was once a Nickel Plate station before the line reaches the junction with the NS Frankfort District at Jefferson Street (MP 120.4), where the former Nickel Plate turns away southeast, with a 25 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 120.3 and MP 119.8, past the flat crossing with the former Conrail Indianapolis Line at Walnut Street (MP 120.3), with a grade crossing just west of the flat crossing, and a grade crossing on the NS just south of the CSX line, and the junction with a west leg of the wye (25 mph on the wye) with the NS Frankfort District, which makes a flat crossing with the Conrail line at Elliott Street (MP "174.3"), at Sixth Street (MP 119.9), where the former Nickel Plate is heading south.

There is a former junction with an erstwhile industrial line on the east side at Industry, a spur for MSB at MP 118.8, a spur at Wolohan Lumber Track (MP 117.1), the 8,020 ft. siding (25 mph on the siding) at Noell (MP 117.2, past MP 116.0, to MP 113), with a grade crossing in the former (to 2011) south end of the siding (MP 115.2), a grade crossing and silos to the east at Cowan, a grade crossing, rail-served silos on both sides at Oakville, at the new (2011) south end of the siding, Springport, a grade crossing, MP 109, a detector and Intermediate Signals, a spur at Summit Products Track (MP 107.6), and a detector at "Mt. Summit" (MP 107.5), before the line turns just east of due south at Mt. Summit, past a spur at Henry County Co-Op Track (MP 106.1),the junction with the former PRR Chicago-Cincinnati line (now just a spur from Honey Creek) at Cast West End (MP 104.2), a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 104.0 to MP 101.9, a former flat crossing with  the erstwhile former Big Four Columbus to Indianapolis line, a stub of which now heads southwest, and junction with Indiana Hi-Rail (which runs the remains of the former Nickel Plate continuing south to Rushville (now closed) and southeast to Connersville) at Cast East Yard (MP 101.9), where there is a 35 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 101.9 to MP 100.8 as today's NS line takes up the route of the former PRR, past New Castle (MP 99.5), heading east.
