Brunswick to Rockland

From the junction with Pan Am Railways (formerly Guilford, formerly Boston & Maine) at Brunswick (MP 29.0), where there is a wye on the north side of the line and a boarding platform on the north side of the main line, within the wye, and another track on the south side of the track serving the ramp, the Maine Eastern heads just north of due east, dark territory, with the ramp track ending at the east switch of the wye, past three grade crossings, a junction with a line turning away northeast where the main line turns just south of due east, a road bridge overhead, a wooded area, a road alongside to the south (SR 24), three grade crossings as the line curves slowly to the north of east, through Cook's Corner (MP 32), and then turns east-southeast, crossing a pond, past extra track on the south side, a grade crossing, a spur trailing in on the north side, a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, a deck girder bridge over the New Meadows River.

There is a slow turn to the northeast, past two grade crossings, a bridge over US 1, a grade crossing with Old Brunswick Road, which then runs alongside to the south, briefly, as the line turns east, the Blind Crossing Bridge over an inlet, the Sewall Pond Bridge, Oak Grove Avenue bridging overhead, MP 37, High Street bridging overhead, a turn to the south, grade crossings at York Street, North Street and Oak Street, a sign saying "signal territory starts", an interlocking signal at R377 (MP 37.7), a grade crossing with Centre Street (MP 37.84), a grade crossing with School Street (MP 37.86), as the line turns east again, a grade crossing at the intersection of Leeman Highway and Washington Street (MP 37.89)a viaduct overhead, a grade crossing, extra track on the south side, and the station platform on the north side at Bath (MP 38).

There is a multi-span through truss drawbridge (Carleton Draw Bridge) over the Kennebec River, a grade crossing with Arrowsic Road, a bridge over a path, and a road bridge overhead as the line turns north, alongside Pleasant Cove to the east, extra track to the east at interlocking signal R390, a road bridge overhead at Main Street, an embankment, a turn northeast, a road bridge overhead at Nequasset Road, a turn southeast the deck girder Nequasset Stream Bridge, a turn northeast through a rocky cutting, past a dirt road grade crossing, an angled grade crossing at Meadow Road as the line curves north, and then back to the east through the woods, with an s-curve at MP 44, a river alongside to the south, an angled road bridge carrying US 1 overhead, a bridge over Montsweag Brook, a turn northeast, a grade crossing with Old Ferry Road, a turn east-northeast and then north-northeast where a track from the erstwhile Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant trails in from the south, a grade crossing with Two Bridge Road, an embankment, and an old spur east to the erstwhile Mason's Station Power Plant.

The line curves gently east, passing a grade crossing with Birch Point Road and a grade crossing with Pottle Cover Road as it does so, comes alongside Pottle Cover to the south and then crosses the water on a causeway with a footpath crossing the line at grade, turning north alongside the Sheepscot River to the east into Wiscasset (MP 49.2), past a dirt road grade crossing to the river, a grade crossing to a parking lot on the river, and a grade crossing to a bridge over the river (US 1), turning northeast onto a Long Trestle over an inlet on the river, passing a rocky cutting alongside the river, and then crossing the river on Sheepscot River Bridge onto another trestle on the east side of the river, turning north-northeast and then southeast through a rocky cutting and under the Martha Washington bridge over that cutting.

There is a dirt track grade crossing as the line turns east, a grade crossing wth Island Road, a bridge over the Marsh River, which then runs alongside to the south, the Nichols River Bridge as the line turns northeast, MP 54, a turn back to the east, a bridge over Lewis Hill Road, a grade crossing with Sheepscot Road, marshland past MP 55 and MP 56, a grade crossing with Academy Hill Road as the line turns north, extra track on the east side in Newcastle (MP 56.2), US 1 alongside to the east, a dirt track grade crossing, SR 215 alongside to the east, then crosses at an angled grade crossing, Salt Bay alongside to the east, a trestle over the edge of the bay, woods, a grade crossing with Bayview Road, a grade crossing with Lower Cross Road, and a grade crossing with East Neck Road. 

The line turns north and then east-northeast, past a trestle over Muscongus Bay off Damariscotta Lake, a grade crossing with Vannah Road,  a grade crossing with a driveway, Damariscotta Lake to the north, a dirt track grade crossing at MP 63, a grade crossing with East Pond Road, a turn north-northeast, north and then east past MP 65, a grade crossing with a narrow path, a grade crossing with Winslows Mills Road, a through truss bridge over the Meadowmak River, Winslow Mills (MP 66.0), a grade crossing with Cross Street, a turn southeast, an angled grade crossing with Depot Street in Waldoboro (MP 67.6), a turn east-northeast, a grade crossing with Washington Road (SR 220), an angled road bridge carrying US 1 overhead, a turn south-southeast, and extra track on the "north" side at Allen's Siding.

There is a grade crossing with Old Route 1, a turn to the east, a pond to the south, MP 71, a grade crossing with Goshen Road, a turn to the north, Sidensparker Pond to the east, a curve to the east around the north side of the pond, a turn back to the north with a dirt road grade crossing on the curve, a grade crossing with Bowden Road, the climb up Warren Hill, the ruling grade on the line, past MP 73, a turn to the east, a grade crossing with Finntown Road, a bridge over a stream a turn southeast, a spur on the south side with passenger cars at Warren (MP 74.4), a grade crossing with a driveway, South Pond alongside to the southwest, a grade crossing, marshland alongside to the southwest, a grade crossing with Sandy Shores Road, and more marshland on both sides.

The line turns around to the northeast, passing MP 78 along the way, and then east-northeast, past a grade crossing with Cushing Road, a through truss bridge over the St. George River, a grade crossing with Toll Bridge Road, a turn southeast along the east/north bank of the river, following it around to the north and then northeast into Thomaston, past grade crossings with Wadsworth Street, Green Street, Mechanic Street, Elliot Street and Knox Street, Thomaston (MP 81.5), passing over the Mill Creek Trestle and a through truss bridge over  the Mill Creek, crossing St. George Road (SR 131) at grade, and turning north-northeast where a spur to Dragon Cement heads north.

There is a grade crossing at Marsh Road, a grade crossing at Buttermilk Lane, an angled grade crossing at the intersection of Pleasant Street and New County Road, a turn to the east with three yard tracks and an engine house to the north, three yard tracks to the south, an angled grade crossing with New County Road again, a spur curving away to the south, grade crossings with Railroad Avenue, Lisle Street and Broad Street, and the Rockland station (MP 85.7), with platform and depot to the south, at the end of the line.
