Logan to Nelsonville

From the run-around track at the northwest end of the line, on the northeast side of a flooded quarry at Hocking Valley Concrete, just southeast of Logan, OH, the single track line heads southeast, past a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing at a driveway, a road to the east, and angled highway bridge carrying US 33 overhead, ponds to the east, a bridge over a stream, a dirt track grade crossing, a turn south-southeast, Haydenville Road to the east, two dirt road grade crossings  (one at Patton Street), housing, the Haydenville Church to the east, a grade crossing with Wandling Road, the brick Haydenville depot to the west, the Round House to the east, a turn east-southeast, an extra track on the east side, (once) serving a lumber mill, the Hocking Canal coming alongside to the east, and a dirt track grade crossing with Laurel Mill Road.

The Hocking River comes alongside to the southwest and an extra track on the northeast side starts, adjacent to the Wolf's Basin on the Hocking Canal, to the northeast, past a clay products company on the northeast side, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, US 33 beyond the canal to the northeast as the line turns just south of due east, a dirt track grade crossing in a wooded area, Lock 19 on the Hocking canal at Diamond, to the north of the line, the canal turning away northeast, a dirt track grade crossing, MP 59.5, a through truss bridge (Bridge 595) over the Hocking River, a turn north-northeast, past housing at East Clayton, on road 278, which now runs alongside to the south(east), with the river alongside to the north(west), a turn curvily east, a gated dirt track grade crossing, three dirt road grade crossings in woods on both side, a turn east-northeast, a through girder bridge (Bridge 617) over the river, an angled grade crossing with road 278, and a turn east, past a grade crossing with Hocking Parkway, a spur to the north, with the Gift Shop beyond that, and the wooden Nelsonville depot to the south.

The line now turns southeast, past a pedestrian crossing, a wye on the northeast side, a bridge over a path, extra track on the northeast side, a grade crossing with Watkins Street, the brick Nelsonville Yard Office to the southwest, two sets of two tracks on the northeast side, the shops tracks on the southwest side, leading to the brick three-track machine shop building, now used to maintain the line's locomotives and rolling stock, with a further track on its southwest side. Beyond this, the line crosses the river again on Bridge 629, and reaches the grounds of Hocking College, where there are some relocated buildings recreating an 1840s pioneer log village on the northeast side.
