Cuyahoga ScenicIndependence to Canton

Cuyahoga Scenic operates a former Baltimore & Ohio line that runs south from the Rockside Road station in Independence (a Cleveland suburb) to Akron, with a developing extension on to Canton.

From Rockside Road station in Independence, the line heads south, in the Cuyahoga River valley, on the west side of the river, turning south-southeast, to follow the river, past South Park, south, southeast, south past Alexanders, southeast and then south past a major arch bridge overhead, with the river on the east side of the line, Becksville, where there is a wooden "depot" facility on the west side of the line, followed by a grade crossing to the parking lot east of the line, south of the crossing, southeast past two bridges over streams, and then south past a grade crossing at Jaite, a road parallel to the west, a bridge over a stream, MP 55, a grade crossing, Boston Hills, dual road bridges overhead (I-77), a highway bridge overhead (I-80), a bridge over the Cuyahoga River to its east side, and Peninsula, south-southwest past a grade crossing, a street on the east side, a grade crossing, a depot on the east side, two grade crossings, two dirt road grade crossings, MP 52, a grade crossing, MP 51, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a dirt track grade crossing, MP 49, a road alongside to the east, MP 48, a grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, to Hale Farm, south-southeast past MP 47, a grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, MP 46, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, Botzum MP 44, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a depot on the east side at MP 43, "Big Bend", and old Portage, southeast, past a dirt road grade crossing, and a bridge over a main road below, south-southeast, past a grade crossing, south, past a grade crossing, a bridge over drainage while on an embankment, and a bridge over a road below,  and then southeast again into Howard Street, Akron, aka "Akron Northside", where there is a wooden depot on the southwest side of the line, with MP 40 and dual road bridges overhead just east of the station.

North of this point, the railroad is owned by the National Park Service in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. To the south, the trackage is owned by the RTP. There is a derail at the change of ownership, protecting the connector trailing in from the west. A road passes beneath a wooden trestle at this spot. The line now heads almost due east, with the former Akron, Canton & Youngstown not far to the south, past a currently-overgrown connector on the south side up to the former B&O main line now owned by CSX, extra track on the north side, MP 39, the former B&O Valley Yard, on the north side (3 tracks at the west end and 4 further east), and turning south at the east end of that yard, past a road bridge overhead and a tower on the west side just before that former B&O main line bridges overhead on a through girder bridge.

There is a wye on the east side with another connector up to that CSX main line, at its Hill Yard, and the line below then passes the location where the former Erie main line once crossed overhead (only the bridge abutments remain). A spur once trailed in on the west side, from Hazel Yard, and the line then passes beneath the former AC&Y line's through girder bridge, turning just east of south, past a grade crossing at East Akron, where there were once connections with the Akron and Barberton Belt Railroad on both sides of the line (and in July 2006, there are spurs on the east side, a single connector, and then two tracks a few yards in), past two grade crossings, a river to the east, with a weir, a grade crossing at an acute angle, a highway bridge overhead, a (closed?) factory on the east side, a railroad bridge overhead, a grade crossing at a plant entrance on the east side, a grade crossing, the dual I-76 bridges overhead, and a grade crossing at an acute angle.

The line turns south again past a closed? factory on the east side, MP 36, a closed? factory on the east side, extra track on the east side curving away into the Eliokem factory on the east side, a grade crossing of Archwood, a road bridge overhead, MP 35, the Goodyear Aircraft Hangars to the east at the Akron-Fulton Airport, extra track on the west side, a wide road bridge overhead, and MP 34, to Krumroy, where a spur from the Goodyear Air Dock trails in on the east side, and southeast past a grade crossing of an east-west street, a street alongside to the northeast, MP 33, a grade crossing of a north-south street, a north-south rod bridge overhead, MP 32, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing (east-west), a grade crossing (north-south), a grade crossing (east-west), MP 30, and a grade crossing with SR 619, to Myersville.

Turning south again, the line passes MP 29, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, MP 28, a grade crossing, MP 26, Aultman, an angled grade crossing, MP 25, a grade crossing, MP 23, a grade crossing, an old depot on the east side, New Berlin, MP 22, and a grade crossing, again turning just east of south past a grade crossing at SR 297 (N-S), an east-west grade crossing, MP 21, MP 20, New Canton, a grade crossing with I-77 alongside to the west, MP 19, dual road bridges overhead (SR 62), a grade crossing, Monument Street to the east, MP 18, West Park on the west side, a grade crossing at 12th Street, a grade crossing at Elworth Street, and on into  the Canton 'station' just north of US 30.
