East Point to Edgewood

At East Point (MP 288.2) the former C of G heads southeast and the CSX line continues on the southerly direction that the line had previously been following. Passing a Ford automotive plant on a spur to the south, the double track, ABS, former C of G line, speed limit 60 mph for passenger trains and 55 mph for freights passes through Hapeville (MP 285.6), where double track ends and single track, CTC, begins, turns south past Mountain View (MP 283.7), and then east past Forest Park (MP 282.2), where there is a yard, with old industrial buildings lining the right of way.

At Lee (MP 280.1), where there is a yard, a line to Fort Gillem and the former Southern line at Pless goes off to the east, and the main line now heads due south, alternating fields, southern pines, and small southern towns along the way, past the yard at Morrow (MP 277.8), a jog southwest and then south again past the  6,565 ft. side siding between North Jonesboro (MP 274.7) and Jonesboro (MP 273.4), turns southeast, south, south-southwest and then south-southeast past Hastings and Lovejoy, east, south-southwest and then south again past North hampton (MP 262.8) and South Hampton (MP 261.5), southwest, south, and southwest again past Sunnyside and then south past Caruso, Pomona and Vineyard to Experiment (MP 252.9), where there is a branch (the Cedartown District) trailing in from the west, one used to trail in from the northeast (from McDonough), and double track, ABS, begins.

The line turns southeast past the yard at Griffin (MP 251.0), where there is another branch off to the southwest and the speed limit is 25 mph through the town and 20 mph  on the spring switch in the westbound main track just east of 9th Street, east and then southeast past East Griffin, and Irving (MP 248.6), where double track and ABS ends and single track, CTC, starts, and curvily south past Orchard Hill and Milner, turning east past North Barnesville (MP 234.3), start of the  3,350 ft. siding which ends at Barnesville (MP 233.6). where there is a yard, another branch (the Thomaston District) goes off to the southwest, and the 4,919 ft, siding which ends at South Barnesville (MP 232.7), where the line is heading east-northeast.

The line turns north, east past Goggins, south, east, southeast, east past the 6, 585 ft. siding from North Collier (MP 224.2) to South Collier (MP 222.8) and a detector at MP 221.1, east-northeast, east and south, and then southeast at the yard at Forsyth (MP 217.0), passing through more small towns, including the 5,195 ft. siding from North Smarr (MP 212.9) to Smarr (MP 211.8), a turn east-northeast past Bolingbroke, southeast, south, and then southeast again past Lorane (MP 203.0), Knox, Wesleyan, the 6,952 ft. siding from Payne (MP 196.7) to South Payne (MP 195.3), some industrial tracks trailing in on the west side at Monroe (MP 193.9), and turns to the east, south-southwest, east and then south to the junctions at Edgewood (MP 192.0), with a line in from Macon Junction to the northeast (where there was once a north leg of the wye to the Macon Terminal station), a former Southern line heading south-southeast and the former C of G line heading south-southwest.
