Patio (Winchester) to Corbin

At Patio (MP 97.2), just south of Winchester, is a large wye on the east side of the line at which the Eastern Kentucky (EK) subdivision departs to the east-southeast, to head for Ravenna, Hazard, and Deane, while the Corbin line heads south-southwest, Two Main Tracks, Yard Limits, maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for freights, but local speed limit 35 mph to MP 98.3, past crossovers at Sanderson (MP 98.1) at the south leg of the wye, the end of Yard Limits and start of CTC at MP 98.2, a speed restriction to 45 mph from MP 98.3 to MP 103.6, a crossover at Flanagan (MP 101.8), a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 103.6 to MP 105.0, Riverside, a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 105.0 to MP 105.8, a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 105.8 to MP 110.4, and the East Kentucky Power Dale Steam Plant (MP 106.5), to the start of single track and the bridge across the Kentucky River at Ford (MP 106.9), where the line turns west and passes through a tunnel on the west side of the river.

The line turns southwest through another tunnel and south into Boonesboro. The line then turns east and south-southwest, past a speed restriction to 35 mph from MP 110.4 to MP 113.0,  and Red House (MP 111.0), where there is a detector, curvily south, west, and then just west of south, with speed restriction to 45 mph from MP 113.0 to MP 118.2, and speed restriction to 35 mph from MP 118.2 to MP 119.2, to the yard at Richmond (MP 119.0), and an erstwhile L&N line once crossed on an east-west alignment, and south-southeast to the line into the Lexington Blue Grass Army Depot on the east side, turning south, past a speed restriction to 40 mph from MP 119.2 to MP 120.2, a speed restriction to 50 mph from MP 120.2, past a dual-ended 65-car spur at MP 121.8, to MP 122.9, where full line speeds prevail, to the 18,176 ft. east side siding at Ft. Estill (MP 123.1), where a branch once left to the southwest, and then south-southwest to Delmar and south again past Maydel to Berea, where the current CSX location (MP 129.8) is further north than the old L&N location (MP 132).

From Berea, the single track line continues south, past a tunnel, the resumption of Two Main Tracks at(Boone) Gap (MP 136.1), Snider (MP 137.5), where there is a 39-car dual-ended spur, and Conway, and then south-southeast past a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 138.9 to MP 139.2 (only), the start of single track at Roundstone (MP 141.5), Wildie (MP 142.5), a speed restriction to 40 mph from MP 142.8 to MP 146.9, and Tunnel 14, southeast past a deck girder bridge and Tunnel 15, Brush Creek, where a branch once trailed in on the north side, a speed restriction to 35 mph from MP 146.9 to MP 148.0, a 30 mph speed restriction starting at MP 148.0, and  the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Dudley (MP 149.2), south-southeast past  a 32-car dual-ended spur at Donora (MP 150.0) and another tunnel, once double track but now containing a passing siding since a single-tracking project in the 1960s, to Mullins (MP 150.5), southwest past Sinks (MP 136.9=151.7 on the previous milepost numbers), named after the limestone formations in the area, where a branch heads west.

Single track starts again at Calif (MP 138.1), and the line turns southeast to a detector at "Livingston" (MP 138.8), Livingston (MP 140.0), where there is a yard, curvily southwest to Dillon, south to the 15,860 ft. west side siding at  Perth (MP 144.0), where the 30 mph speed restriction becomes a restriction to 25 mph from MP 144.0 to MP 152.6, and the siding at South Perth (MP 144.5), east on Crooked Hill, a 1.35% grade with 8-degree curves that is a helper district with little public access, past a tunnel, south to Hazel Patch, east and then southeast past three tunnels, a deck girder bridge, and a through truss bridge, and southwest to East Bernstadt (MP 152.0), where there is a yard and the Rockcastle River Railway once trailed in on the west side. The line continues southwest, past  a 35 mph speed restriction from MP152.6 to MP 153.9, a 35-car dual-ended spur at West Industrial (MP 152.8), and then turns southeast past a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 153.9 to MP 157.0, Pittsburg, the 19,235 ft. east side siding starting at North Bourne (MP 154.4), end of Crooked Hill, Bourne (MP 156.8) a detector at "London" (MP 156.9), and a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 157.0 to MP 158.2, through London (MP 158.0), where there is a yard, south past a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 158.2 to MP 164.4, a 75-car dual-ended spur at Levi Jackson (MP 160.6), a 100-car dual-ended spur at Fariston (MP 163.0), south-southwest past the resumption of double track at Frantz (MP 164.4), where full line speeds prevail, and Lily (MP 166.2), and south past a speed restriction to 50 mph from MP 166.8 to MP 171.2, a deck girder bridge over a river at County Line, the start of Yard Limits and a 25 mph speed restriction at MP 171.2, Dortha (MP 171.7) and North Corbin (MP 172.0), start of the terminal complex at Corbin, where the CV subdivision turns away east and the KD subdivision continues south, there are both east and west yards (parallel) and a locomotive shop opened in 1986.
